"To build their knowledge
arsenals, consumers are turning to online reviews in large numbers
– and those reviews are having a considerable impact on
purchase decisions. ...almost two-thirds (62 percent) of consumers
read consumer-written product reviews on the Internet. Of these,
82% say their purchase decisions have been directly influenced
by the reviews..."

What is Soapbox?
Soapbox is an Actinic plug-in that provides your
customers with the facility to read and submit Star Ratings
and Product Reviews for the products in your store. Soapbox
is the only review management system
that fully integrates with Actinic's database and HTML page layouts,
so you can build customer confidence and maximize Search
Engine placement as Soapbox "rotates" the review
content of your site.
Soapbox is still the only fully
integrated review solution for Actinic that allows you to moderate
the reviews to remove Spam and defamatory content.
Key Features...
- Send
Review Invitation emails to your existing Actinic customers
with direct links to the products that they purchased.
- Easy-to-use reviewing tool for customers (available
in English or French)
- Add reviews directly
into your Actinic product pages to maximise impact
and improve Search Engine Optimization!
- You decide which reviews are published, BEFORE
they are published, with a simple management facility.
- Compatible with Actinic v8 and above.
- Easy to implement. No programming or design
skills needed.
- One-time cost.
How will the reviews look on my website?

|
- Soapbox reviews can be embedded directly
into the product pages of your Actinic Catalog as well
as making them available from a link next to the product.
This can provide a more immediate impact to potential
buyers as well as improving search engine optimization
by constantly adding new content to your otherwise
static product descriptions.
- You can optionally limit the number
of reviews displayed in this way and either display the
most recent reviews (excluding any below a certain rating)
or just display the highest rated reviews.
- You can also design your own rating
images (to replace the stars) and apply any CSS styling
to the review elements to fit in with your site's theme.
|
How do I manage the reviews?
Once customers have left reviews, you can approve
or reject them in just one click so you decide which reviews are
published. This illustration shows the review management interface
and some key features are described below.

 |
Exit Button.
Closes the review management screen. |
 |
Update Actinic.
Ensures Soapbox is correctly integrated into Actinic and updates
the 'Soapbox Review Count' and 'Soapbox Rating' values for
each product with all reviews written since this function
was last run. |
 |
Refresh Actinic.
Similar to the 'Update' function described in point 2 except
ALL reviews are used to recalculate the Actinic values, not
just new reviews. |
 |
Product Catalog. Using
the checkboxes above you can chose to 'Show Reviews for All
Products', or only show reviews for a specific product that
you select from the catalog. For day-to-day moderation of
new reviews the 'All Products' setting is suggested to quickly
give you a list of reviews that need your attention. |
 |
Status Filter. Allows
you to only list reviews of a certain status (Green-Approved
/ Red-rejected / White-Pending). |
 |
Review-specific Functions... |
| |
Set Status.
Select a review in the 'Review List' (8), by either clicking
on it or using the 'Review Navigator' (10), and then click
the green tick to approve it or the red cross to reject it.
No review will be visible to anyone via your website until
you have set it's status to approved. |
| |
Capture eMail Addresses.
This funtion captures the email addresses of the selected
reviews to allow you to follow up with customers. |
 |
List Refresh Options.
Set auto-refresh to update the 'Review List' (8) as soon as
you select a new product (see 4), or change the 'Status Filter'
(see 5). With auto-refresh unchecked, the blue refresh button
becomes active and allows you to refresh the list only when
you are ready. The default is auto-refresh but manual refreshing
can be useful if you want to change several settings and do
not want to wait for the list to refresh after each change.
(e.g. selecting a new product and then checking all 3 Status
filter checkboxes). |
 |
Review List.
Lists all the reviews based on your selection from the 'Product
catalog' (4) and the 'Status Filter' (5). Each review is listed
in the appropriate colour for its status (Approved / Rejected
/ Pending). The average rating (shown in stars) is the average
of all Approved ratings left by customers to the nearest 'half
star'. 'Contactable' and 'Use review' indicate the privacy
options selected by the reviewer and refer to whether or not
they wish to be contacted by you about their review and their
permission for you to use their review in any promotional
material. |
 |
Editable Information.
The 'editable' parts of a customer review are shown here for
you to modify before approval if you wish to. This may just
be to correct a spelling mistake or you may wish to remove
innappropriate parts of the review before approving it. |
 |
Review Navigator.
Scroll up and down the list of reviews and make and save/cancel
changes made to the 'Editable Information' (9) |
Checking for New reviews
 |
You can check if you have new reviews, either
from the 'Review Management' screen (above), or by right-clicking
the Soapbox icon in the system tray and selecting 'Check
New Reviews Now'. |
